How to choose
If you only own the original Switch, buy the Switch version. If you already have — or are planning to get — a Switch 2, go straight for the Switch 2 edition and don’t treat a future free upgrade as a given. Already playing on PS5, Xbox or PC? You can sidestep Nintendo’s two-version save limits, although official pages don’t confirm cross-platform save transfer between those systems either. One extra note: the Xbox version supports Xbox Play Anywhere (buy once, play on Xbox and PC), a perk that doesn’t carry over to PlayStation or Nintendo.
