FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE Espers: Allies That Fight for Three Turns
Espers are summoned units that fight for three turns, fire a finisher and leave. They are a different system from equipped Visions. Full roster is unpublished.
Treat an Esper as a three-turn support window rather than a permanent extra teammate — that is the single most useful way to think about them. Square Enix confirms Espers fight for three turns and leave after a strong finisher on the final turn.
Espers are not Visions
The two get mixed up constantly, but they work differently:
- Visions: equipped on a character, used to learn skills, swappable at any time, and what you learned stays after you swap it out.
- Espers: summoned to fight, limited to a set number of turns, and gone after the finisher.
A party can run a Vision loadout and an Esper at the same time, but one “guest roster” cannot describe both.
How to unlock them
Square Enix says they unlock as you progress the story and complete side quests, without listing each Esper’s location, level or cost. So don’t read that as “every summon needs a boss trial first”, and don’t invent a fixed route per Esper — anything not published is a guess.
What is confirmed so far
The official notes do not verify every Esper by name, and neither the full roster nor the acquisition routes are published, so we don’t guess at unrevealed summons, abilities or numbers. Media previews mention trying Siren and Ramuh, but that is preview coverage, not what the public Chapter 1 demo hands you.
How to verify it yourself
While playing, confirm three things in-game: which quest unlocks the Esper, whether it really lasts three turns, and whether it leaves after the finisher on the last turn. Then compare that against the official notes. Summon costs, quest prerequisites and menu paths have no hands-on basis here yet.
