FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE Platforms & Demo: Which Version to Buy
The game is on Switch 2, Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and Windows PC. The two Switch versions share no saves and have no upgrade path.
Before you pick a version, settle one thing: the two Switch versions cannot share saves, and Nintendo’s page says there is no upgrade path. That makes the rest simple — if you own a Switch 2, buy the Switch 2 version; if you only have the original Switch, buy the Switch version, and don’t count on a free upgrade later.

Resolution and frame rate have never been published, so treat any “the Switch 2 version looks this much better” claim as guesswork.
How to choose
Only play on the original Switch? Buy the Switch version. Own or plan to buy a Switch 2? Buy that version. If you already have a PS5, Xbox or gaming PC, you can sidestep Nintendo’s save restrictions entirely — though Square Enix has not confirmed cross-save between those platforms either. Xbox carries the Xbox Play Anywhere label (one purchase plays on Xbox and PC); that convenience does not apply to the PlayStation or Nintendo versions.

Check the store page before you buy
Open the Nintendo Switch listing or the Switch 2 listing for your region and confirm the store region, edition name and date. Edition contents are compared in Price & editions.
